Making Difficult Health Care Decisions: A Resource for Albertans
Introducing a New, Comprehensive Resource for All Albertans
Have you ever faced a difficult health care decision where you didn't know what to do? Did you wish you had more information? Or even that you knew which questions to ask?
The Provincial Health Ethics Network (PHEN) and the Alberta Collaborative Initiative on Decision-Making at the End of Life have developed a new resource for members of the public, patients, long-term care residents and their families to help with decision-making in times of serious illness or injury.
Comfort, Hopes and Wishes: Making Difficult Health Care Decisions is intended to provide clear information about medical treatments and ethical issues that may arise during these difficult times.
This booklet may be used during a crisis or in advance of one to help start discussions with loved ones about future health care planning. It may be used by individuals facing their own health care decisions or by those in the position of making difficult decisions for family members or others.
